Back for 2016
We had our first meeting of the year in the bay side suburb of Hampton East, and it was a sunny morning which attracted over 20 members and 2 guests. Being a warm day the meeting was held in the front garden and under a marquee for shade so everyone could enjoy the garden like atmosphere whilst talking gardening.
Our President, Brenton, started the meeting by welcoming everyone back for another year and discussed the upcoming events and to make sure they had received a copy of the meeting schedule. Then Peter F. (the host) showed some new gardening products such as a ‘ water garden’ aquaponic system which is small enough to fit on a kitchen bench. Perfect for a kitchen herb garden. A LED seedling germination kit and a thermometer clock to check the temperature of your greenhouse at a glance. Peter also had a fruiting pineapple plant on display and a few smaller ones as a give away.
David F. also informed us of the changes going on in his business, Duralite Horticultural Supplies, and his transition to another role in a new organisation. He is a past President and long time supporter of our gardening club and we all wish him all the best for his future business endeavors.
Andrew W. of Moss Products (look here) presented our newest members with a complimentary salad grower kit so they can get growing straight away. That is a very generous off and we all thank you for it.
See what our newest member has to say- Peter, we planted mixed lettuce in the Moss planter about two weeks ago and can already see the growth. What a terrific gift from the club, thanks to all involved. Also thank you Peter (and David) for your advise and assistance in answering our queries and pointing us in the right direction, we are brand new at this but very enthusiastic to learn
